What is Your Favorite Local Restaurant?

While we’re out on the road or visiting with folks coming into my hometown to work with us on various projects, we have noticed that everyone asks the same question “Where is your awesome local spot that I can’t get anywhere else?” I started thinking that we have some really awesome spots here in my hometown that are staples for any visitor that visits the area.

Of course, I find myself following up with the question what do you feel like? And, you all know how that dance goes before we can zero in on the type of food their looking for and then we are off and running.

The following are some of my favorite spots around my hometown of Ocala, FL:

Breakfast:

Eggs Over Easy (Owned by Earl & Donna)

Address: 5855 SE 58th Ave, Ocala, FL 34472
Phone:(352) 624-7651
$

I love their vibe in this little spot off Baseline in the Peppertree Commercial Plaza. The atmosphere is really cool because they invite local artists to hang up their work for sale on the walls so you get this gallery vide, while your in there. As some of you may have seen from my photo posts it inspires me to create art with my glass and straw wrappers. The staff is comical cracking me up with their antics and comments to one another. The food is consistently awesome and I normally get the 2/2/2 breakfast. However, I modify it by replacing the Bacon for Home Fries, which gives me 2 Eggs Whites scrambled, home fries, and pancakes. Man! This is getting me hungry just thinking about it! LOL

Lunch:

Taco Y Madre

Address: 80 N Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34475
Phone:(352) 671-5277
$

For Lunch I like to slip into a little place on the corner of Hwy 40 and Hwy 441, known as Taco Y Madre for a King Burrito. This thing is massive with an authentic flavor that you have to go to Mexico to get. Loaded with Chicken or Steak, rice, beans, lettuce, fresh tomatoes, and all the fixings. The wait staff are friendly and will speak to you in spanish or english and you can see the cook in the back cutting up the food fresh. Plus their special sauces that they serve are the bomb!

Dinner:

Latinos Y Mas (Webster and Fatima)

Address: 2030 S Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34471
Phone:(352) 622-4777

When I want something local for dinner one of my lifetime go to spots is Latinos Y Mas for some latin infused goodness. Owned and operated by folks I consider my extended family from Ecuador. The experience is relaxed and makes you feel like your dinning in what feels like an upscale Villa dinning room… And, the cuisine they produce in the kitchen is definitely 5 Star. I recommend the Tostones “Tio Rico” for an appetizer, which is pink gulf shrimp wrapped with bacon, grilled and topped with monterey jack cheese, and served over tostones. And, my ultimate dinner favorite Seafood Paella with jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, calamari, fish, mussels, cooked in yellow saffron rice, with green peppers roasted red peppers, Spanish onions, tomatoes, garlic, spices and a splash of white wine.

Wait!!! You can’t forget desert when your traveling. What fun would that be? Make sure you get the Tuxedo Bombe, which is a dome of delicious dark chocolate ganache conceals layers of white & dark chocolate mousse mingled between layers of chocolate cake. Its the Bombe! LOL
